“Books — a Source of Knowledge”


On October 7, 2026, a round-table discussion entitled “One Book a Month” was held at the Faculty of Chemical Technologies of Urgench State University named after Abu Rayhan Beruni. The event was organized for first-year students majoring in Light Industry Engineering with the aim of increasing young people’s interest in reading and promoting a strong culture of reading.

The event was attended by Dilrabo Tajimuratova, Head of the Information and Library Center of Urgench State University. During the discussion, students received detailed information about the importance of reading and reading culture in a person’s life, as well as the role of books in developing the spiritual and intellectual potential of young people.

Particular attention was paid to the state policy aimed at promoting reading culture, especially among young people. The participants were also informed about the opportunities and benefits created for young people in the areas of education, self-development, and access to information resources.

At the conclusion of the event, the students visited the collection of the Information and Library Center of Urgench State University. They became acquainted with the available literature and received information about books related to their individual interests.

Such events contribute to increasing young people’s interest in reading, strengthening their intellectual potential, broadening their worldview, and fostering a sustainable culture of reading.

A person who reads books broadens their thinking, enriches their worldview, and continually strives for self-development.
